The fake wedding

Sunday 7th October

Weddings are always fun right? Well imagine attending two in one day!

The fake wedding

We recently attended 'The Fake Wedding' wedding fair at Kings Weston House organised by The Holistic Wedding Hub. Before you ask, no we are not getting married! We were invited as influencers to create social media content for a local business we already love; Heartfelt Vintage. Alongside doing so we were also able to enjoy and capture this brilliant twist on a typical wedding fair which usually are not that great and a little outdated.

As a florist I am well aware of Kings Weston House having created some wedding installations there in the past. It is a venue that I really like; a large historical house that you would imagine when reading a Jane Austin novel. The mismatched colours and decor of the interior add a lot of character for me and it was the perfect location for the event.

Kings Weston House Bristol

Heartfelt vintage supplied all of the beautiful wedding and bridal party gowns along with some gorgeous preloved accessories. Heartfelt are Bristol's leading supplier of authentic vintage wedding dresses offering a relaxed and informal approach to wedding dress shopping. They have one of the largest curated collections of vintage wedding dresses in the UK ranging from the 1900s - 1980s. They pride themselves not on trends but on women finding a dress for their body shape saying everybody has an era that suits them.

The laid back feel to the wedding fair meant that there was no official 'dressing room' so us and the public were able to see the models having their hair and make-up done and wandering around in their gowns. This provided a great opportunity to really see the amazing detail and fit of these stunning vintage gowns. We then got to see them in action during the two fake weddings. After each ceremony there was a fashion show which seen the models parade down the impressive wooden stair case and through the aisle. There was a varying selection of gorgeous wedding gowns along with some vintage gowns suited for bridesmaids or wedding guests.

Catwalk show

Our top pick from the catwalk would be the bride from the second wedding. Her gorgeous long red hair complimented the 1920's look which was accessorised with a long lace edged veil and floral garland. The simple dress worked perfectly stood alongside her new 'wife's' bridal gown which was a pretty blush pink midi with jewelled detailing. The bare foot style gave it that real bohemian edge which I just love.

Alongside Heartfelt Vintage there were some amazing local wedding suppliers that we enjoyed meeting...

Vintage wedding car
Vintage camper van

Love bug wedding cars provided the two most gorgeous vintage wedding rides which we just fell in love with! The camper was so amazing we just wanted to run away in it and travel Europe... a dream of ours.

The gin hive
Gin bar bristol

Another favourite was this mobile gin bar from The Gin Hive who provided the delicious reception drinks; a fruity gin infused punch. We could imagine rocking up to this one at Glastonbury Festival.

We also enjoyed delicious cakes, interesting circus acts, a floral workshop and some inspiring talks. To see these talented people in action is the best way to decide if they are right for you and your special day.

All in all a great day and something I would recommend for anyone preparing to tie the knot!
